Hopefully Mel Brooks doesn't hold back on his style of humor, but you can't make fun of anyone anymore, so we'll see.

This is my only concern about this movie, that the current political climate does not allow for anyone to be made fun of (well, except perhaps for white Christian males).

I hadn't really thought of the original movie for many years until recently when I found it on iTunes for $4.99, so I bought it and watched it again for the first time since probably 1982 when it aired on HBO or The Movie Channel. Laughed my ass off from beginning to end.

I wonder if he'll really be involved.

With Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, and Ike Barinholtz in the writing group I doubt there will be many sacred cows.

No way in hell this won't be constrained in this environment.

Is it okay if I say that I'm not terribly impressed by that staff? And consequently, that I'm not expecting much from this production?

Nah, I get it. None of them are household names, but Kroll's writing etc for Big Mouth and The League and Barinholtz had roles on Eastbound & Down and The League, so neither of them give a damn about being too PC and up until Sykes came out, she was known for pushing boundaries too, so that's what I'm basing it on.

I'm actually curious if Mel Brooks still has what it takes. Dude is 100 yrs old or close to it.

I wouldn't think Wanda Sykes will be on board with anything that would be a cancel risk.

Unfortunately, going to side with this not being very good going in. Too easy to have high hopes to only get slammed by the SJW mantra.

Not sure about the other writers, but I have a hard time imagining 95 year old Mel Brooks gives a damn about being cancelled.

Taika Waititi should really be the person to do this. He'd find a way to make it funny even in the current environment. But he's in too much demand right now.

Madeline Kahn picking out her escorts to the royal orgy is one of the best scenes in the movie:

Kahn was such a comedic genius. Her roles were highlights of Mel Brooks' movies.

History of the World Pt I is easily a top 5 comedy of all time for me. And this is arguably the funniest scene from any movie I've ever seen.

As others have said, I am not going into this with high expectations. However, there's no way I'm not going to watch it.

Eh. I know who Kroll and Sykes are, and I recognize Barinholtz after seeing his picture. I just don't think they're that great.

Mel Brooks was a Combat Engineer in WWII. That is one of the biggest reasons He has Never given a F*** about what people thought or who he might be offending. He's in his 90's and gives zero F***s about whether or not he will be cancelled by today's cancel culture

I have wanted Mel Brooks to make this sequel for a long Time. I have serious doubts if it will be anywhere close to as funny as the original, but I will probably watch it if it does get made.

That looks promising. I know the thing with Mel Brooks that we all say now is that none of that stuff he did decades ago could get made today (which is true), but from looking at that trailer, it sounds like he might push the boundaries more than we have seen in quite a long time. Which is awesome. He is the only one that could get away with it, and should be able to get away with it. Can't wait.

True. If he made Blazing Saddles today he'd get screamed at for being a "woke, anti-white racist."

The Gregory Hines part was going to be Richard Pryor but he had burned himself up in the famous freebasing incident and became unavailable.

Don't want to get my hopes up for this one but like other have said, I doubt Mel Brooks cares about what the woke mob thinks.
Sapper Redux
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Pretty clear from the trailer that the "woke mob" won't be the ones screaming bloody murder.
