Personally, Feelin' Good Again might be my favorite song ever written. Paint the Town Beige is a close second.

Played Corpus Christi Bay at my brother's funeral. As much as I love the Front Porch Song, CCB is perfect.

Mr. Wolf and Mamabear.

It's just such a quirky song. I think REK once said it was about small town politics and all the characters were the different participants in the town goings on. Also, I somewhere heard that someone wrote their thesis about the song. Would be an interesting read for sure.

I don't know about a thesis, but I once came across a post on a message board where someone dissected the song in order to prove it was really about World War II and the politics at play. It was honestly pretty well done and thought out, and was made all the more incredible by the post that followed it up, with direct quotes from REK saying it was about small town politics and the people in the song know who they are. Great stuff.

Gringo Honeymoon, because it depicts a pretty perfect (pre-cartel) day on the border.

Anyway, hard to say what my favorite is. Every answer here is correct.

The Road Goes on Forever is the first thing I ever heard by him, and taught me that country music could be more than just singing about beer and a girl on a tailgate.

I've listened to Feelin Good Again every Friday leaving work for I don't know how long now.

Jesse With The Long Hair is a fun story with a lot packed into 3.5 minute song. Same with Shades of Grey, I felt like such an idiot when I finally put together what was going on there.

Corpus Christi Bay... I tell people being young to me means feeling bad for the brother who moves to Houston and gets sober, because he doesn't get to hang out and party anymore. Being older means feeling sorry for the narrator, who feels trapped in a town and in his own immaturity. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I play "I'm Coming Home" every time I'm headed back to TX after traveling.

And my wife and I danced to "Gringo Honeymoon" at our wedding.

But "Feeling Good Again" is probably my favorite song of any genre. I've never gotten tired of it.

In no certain order. REK always makes me think of West Texas. Was fortunate enough to catch him just jamming at the Gage many years ago. Feelin Good Again makes me think of the Gage and that night.
Today, unfortunately, many Americans have good reason to fear that they will be victimized if they are unable to protect themselves. And today, no less than in 1791, the Second Amendment guarantees their right to do so. - Justice Samuel Alito 2022
