The other thread about favorite movies got me thinking about what movie I have seen the most times. It doesn't have to be your favorite or even a movie you like. What movie have you seen the most all the way through. For a showing to count you have to sit down and watch the whole thing at once. Not just some casual, flipping channels and watched halfway through.


For me I would say its Back to the Future. I don't know that I would even call it my favorite movie either. Right now I watch it at least 10 times a year. I would say life time I am at around 150 showings with half of those coming in the last 7 years.

As an adult, Jaws, but if I'm counting childhood movie obsessions, it's probably Young Guns, Home Alone, Prince of Thieves, Jurassic Park or Lion King. Probably Robin Hood though, as I was obsessed with that movie in middle school.

It's gotta be either ET, Back to the Future, or Home Alone 2.

As a kid I I would rewatch movies almost weekly. I wore out our first VHS tape of ET and we had to get another.

From a watching standpoint probably Shawshank Redemption

Probably seen Outbreak and National Treasure a lot at different times in my life because if I wanted to fall asleep those movies were put on so I didn't have to think and just drifted to sleep rather than get into a show or movie.

Friend saw Beverly Hills Cop 288 times in theater during its initial run

Either Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, or Alien.

I recall seeing Star Wars 10 times during its various theatrical runs, Empire 8 times, and Alien 4 times. But tacking on video viewings, the numbers go stratospheric, and I could not even guestimate the total times I've watched these movies in their entirety (and would not include the times when I've caught parts of them while scanning channels).

So many times on a Sunday, when there is nothing on tv and I'm working around the house, I'll put that on...and always get sucked into sitting down and watching.

Probably Remember the Titans

If attending and performing in The Rocky Horror Picture Show counts, then about 335. You don't so much watch the movie, though.

If not, then ... I dunno. There are a handful that are candidates, and I wasn't keeping count or anything.

Probably Out Cold or Eurotrip

Have watched the Star Wars OT probably more than anything else between childhood and adult rewatches.

In college me and my roommates had a habit of coming back from the bars and throwing on either Animal House, Old School, Tombstone, or Platoon until we fell asleep on the couch.

Feels like I have seen Shawshank and Ocean's Eleven a ton as well. Also a handful of Christmas movies that I end up watching at least once or twice a year (Home Alones, Christmas Vacation, Elf, etc.)

Star Wars - between me and the kids putting it on, hopefully with grandkids when that happens.

Probably the movies I watch every year. Wrath of Khan. It's a Wonderful Life.

As a kid, the one I watched over and over was Disney's Robin Hood.

agree with this. i see it so often on TV and its often cause i'm bored and there's nothing else on and i'll just stop and watch it.

Sandlot and Forrest Gump are probably at the top of my most-watched movies.

I'm glad a lot of the responses aren't Casablanca and Gone with the Wind types. Let's be honest...we'd all watch Dumb and Dumber and Happy Gilmore over those on a leisurely Saturday Afternoon.

Due to childhood obsession probably Return of the Jedi.

Jurassic Park without question...next closest would probably be Blazing Saddles, The Holy Grail, Animal House and Indiana Jones/Star Wars

Other than that, I watch comedies over and over. Old School and Hangover are my rescue movies.
