I like the premiere. I thought they had redeemed themselves with the calf birthing from last season. Nope. They managed to top it already.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to what this upcoming g season is going to bring

One of the best shows on right now imo. Some really good additions to the show.

Enjoy the show, but:

Costner's character after being diagnosed with colon cancer and hospitalized, undoubtably having many tests, including biopsy's and CAT scans, finds out he has a bleeding ulcer that they thought was cancer, but he's ok now...

I was really confused to see the Developer Jenkins still alive in the diner. Seemed like sloppy writing to not have actually killed him off. Or maybe I've watched too many shows on hbo.

I think we are going to find out Rip cut him down and thinks Kayce went to far which is an underlying theme for the season. When Kayce kicked the horse out from under him Rip gave him the same look as he did in the bar when he mentioned burning it down next time something happens to Yellowstone guys.

yep. i think the first season was more popular than they planned. probably had written 2 seasons worth with Costner dying at some point. but, now it might run for awhile, so they wanted to keep him. hollywood.

Just watched S1E2
- The Kayce/Rip look is spot on. Also if you notice in the 'hanging' scene, Jenkins is squirming and no neck snap. That was intentional to leave the door open that he might be alive.
- they also never closed the door on what happened to Kayces wife.
- I'm guessing there is a grand conspiracy on the Dr deceiving Sutton on his diagnosis. I've got a couple of theories on it.

Or they got re-upped for another season and had to write themselves out of corner like Bloodline.

Also, bitter sweet hearing Turnpike Troubadours with the issues they are going through.

I think this show is some of Costner's best work - which is saying something.

Funny, one of those shows like Breaking Bad, The Shield or even the Sopranos where the protagonists are actually murderers and very bad guys, but we like them and choose to be on their side and kinda overlook their discretions.

Looked for but didn't find a thread for season 1. Any help? Just into episode 3 and really like it.

Did I catch that right?

Costner didn't have colon cancer....he had an ulcer which ruptured?

Did he go to the Quack Shack on campus for his diagnosis? Because they misdiagnosed me there pretty badly when I was a student.

As over the top some of this stuff is, it's damn entertaining. I'm a fan.

I took it more as that he thought his colon cancer was back. That isn't the case

I have a feeling we're getting a lesbian scene with her and Kelly Reilly this year. It was teased when she showed up to meet Dutton.

The ludicrousness of this show makes me shake my head. But Costner, the beautiful scenery and the fact that it's the only show in the summer my wife and I watch together keeps me coming back every week.

Still, the plotlines of this show are pretty ridiculous. It's almost a "so bad it's good" kind of show.

I tend to agree. I just now accept it for what it is. It's not going to be written tightly like Sheridan's movies and with so much more subject material I get that. He also has an audience to play for too.

So with that acknowledged, I enjoy the show a lot more. Cowboy poker had such a "we got to figure out a way to get this scene in an episode" feel to it.

They gotta get rid of the "cowboy" scenes. 12 soft hands on hollywood horses go into young pines and gather 800 young bulls with sheep dogs.

Not likely.

I really like the show, but I have difficulty with the scenes where they "work" cattle. The cowboys should look the part and look western, not look like accountants.

Kind of funny as well that they call a bunch of reining trainers (and at least one reining, non-pro mom and her kid) "real cowboys" in the promo for that new show by the same producer. A few of those ten guys probably only saddle their own horse maybe once a month.

I particularly like how the youngest son, who is now lining up to inherit the empire, is actually darker and meaner than the old man. He originally was the son who tried to escape. Heir apparent was killed and now he grows into the role.

Has a Godfather feel to it.

It was ok I thought. Too many f bombs. That didnt add anything. The ulcer scene was also not done well. That aint how it works.

Im more curious how the rip/kayce thing is gonna shake out. Also interested in whats gonna happen with walker and Jamie.

Costner and the fella that plays rip are acting everybody else under the table.

Just caught up on Ep2

I like how last season we got a taste of the politics side of things but now we're seeing how politics play out on the ranch with the hands.

Will be interesting to see where things go with Kayce as he's torn between his two lives.

Still can't figure out if I like the Beth character. Sometimes she's a BA making shlt happen and I like it and others (the dinner scene in EP2) she's insufferable I want her to STFU and show her teets already.

Overall I think the acting is pretty good. Costner is Costner, Rip is a great actor, Luke Grimes does a good job, and as I said last season Ryan Bingham is surprisingly a damn good actor. Not sure if he can ever play anything but a ranch hand but I think he does a really good job in the role he has.

This show has some real mind-numbingly terrible plots and ridiculous situations.

Kaycie's wife walks into a full college classroom, announces herself as the professor and some dewsh with a backwards-cap makes a loud porn remark about her.......and he isn't thrown out of the class and failed immediately? Really? Then, two minutes later she starts teaching her "Columbus was an evil white man" lesson. Yeah, that gets a fast-forward on my remote. F*** that and f*** her entire storyline from now on. Saves me a few minutes each episode now.

I can't believe how some of this show is so good, and other parts so God-awful....and it's all written by the same person.
