Dumpweed- Enema of the State

Almost wrote this. Losing a whole year and dumpweed Is what I immediately thought of upon reading the title of the thread. Anthem part two is amazing as well.

For those interested, at about the 3 minute mark of the below video Tom talks about writing dumpweed and putting it as the open to Enema of the State. Also, for big Blink fans, the whole documentary is pretty cool too.

Is this best song that's also track 1 of an album or the song that best opens it's album?

If it's the latter, Speak to Me opening Dark Side of the Moon has to be up there.

Honestly, I thought their last album was just alright, definitely not the same without Tom. But the first song off of it is still pretty nails, if a little short.

Going to see them and Lil Wayne in August, should be a good time.

I just can't get behind Blink 182 with Matt Skiba. I just heard their new single Blame it in my Youth and thought it was awful.

Not to get my hopes up too much, but Tom said in a recent interview with Kerrang that he still plans on rejoining Blink 182 in the future. Not sure what his relationship with Mark is like these days, but I know him and Travis still speak regularly. Mark, Tom and Travis were basically the soundtrack to my high school years so I will always have a soft spot for Blink

Not only a perfect opener to set the album tone, but also the band's debut album. Great combo.

So even when people mention AC/DC, they pass right over Powerage and Rock N' Roll Damnation.

That's the answer, and it's from Keith Richards and mine favorite AC/DC album.

We are correct

^AC/DC has got to be the band with the most great opening tracks and many were title tracks too,

It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll) - TNT/High Voltage
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - title track
Rock 'n' Roll Damnation - Powerage
Highway to Hell - title track
Hells Bells - Back in Black
For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) - title track
Thunderstruck - Razor's Edge

They repeated this formula for the next two albums:

#1 Thrasher opener with unrelated yet epic intro
#2 Self titled masterpiece
#3 Mid tempo would-be deep cut track (yet bell tolls ended up being a concert staple)
#4 Ballad turned headbanger

Black album almost gets similar treatment, save for sandman being a thrasher, no track 2 self titled, and Unforgiven remains in ballad form throughout.

The formula reappears again on Death Magnetic, save for self titled track #2.

Wouldn't It Be Nice -- Beach Boys' Pet Sounds

For an opening combo of tracks: Sailin' Shoes/Hey Julia/Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley from Robert Plant's "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley" album back in the early 70s is pretty strong.

really good I thought about putting it. Not my favorite BS song actually but it does kick that album off so well and that album is the pinnacle of Springsteens narrative like songwriting before he just started making hits. There were some great ones after but that album as a whole is a masterpiece building on what he did on the first few albums but perfecting it there.
