Ugh, Hysteria is where Def Leppard went off the rails. It's great if you're a chick that likes pop rock. If you like balls with your rock & roll then Pyromania blows it out of the water. High 'N Dry and On Through The Night are better too.

Pour some sugar was recorded with 64 guitar tracks, most playing the exact same part to fatten the sound.

Techniques like that are the reason the album sounds so great, and also the reason no one can do the songs justice when they try to cover them in a garage band.

Replace Joe Elliot with Shania Twain and does the album feel out of place? What you now have is an album with a bunch of songs that top the country charts in the 90s. It's heavy metal for girls. I like rock and I like pop, but that album crossed the line too much for my tastes. Its pop songs with electric guitars. Part of the problem is Rick Allen's drum kit, and I'll always give the band props for finding a way to continue on with him still in the band, but I think their sound suffered because of it.

It's what got me into popular music as a kid. I was 10. Sugar has gotten old, but still like listening to Women and Animal today.
