Saw it this morning. Thought it was a little slow at times but the payoff was worth it. Spike Lee did a great job with this movie.

Was the lead Dave Chappelle?
That was actually very well done. He uses the movie as a platform to discuss black on black violence in Chicago as well as guns. Whether you agree with him or not, he does take on controversial topics.Junkhead said:
And for the record, Spike Lee's previous film was all about the violence in the black community in Chicago. It's called Chiraq. So yes, he is addressing that issue as well.
This is a true story set in the 70' but yes he ties in current/recent events at the end.mazag08 said:That was actually very well done. This movie seems to be based in the 70's unless I'm looking at the wrong movie. Does he use that time period to relate to today, or is it specifically about that time period?

I just saw this film last night and I didn't have high expectations. Clockers was the last decent Spike Lee joint, and that was in 95.
Yeah, I'm kinda surprised the politics board hasn't made its way over here to start complaining about this movie.TCTTS said:
but I do admit that any hardcore conservative who sees this will likely end up just getting more pissed than they already are at the left/Spike Lee.

Wait, why does jabs towards the president bring this movie down?
