Yes, this was how it was. As I recall, the walls were covered in some kind of fabric. Once you got going fast enough, you were pretty much forced against the wall, as in not really able to move, and then the floor slowly dropped away from your feet. I don't recall the name of that ride.
Yes, it was a reddish rubber fabric, funny how we can remember such details of something from 40 years ago. Only wish I could remember the name, Barrel of Fun sounds close. It was right next to some sort of Planetarium, another place you'd go that wasn't that much fun but it had A/C.

ok yeh that is a much different ride than I was trying to explain that the carnivals have.
