A while back, I started a project refurbishing my first electric guitar. My plan was to strip the paint down to the woodgrain, stain it, and coat it with guitar lacquer. Unfortunately, when I stripped the paint off, it revealed a very bland, unremarkable wood (basswood maybe?) that wasn't at all what I was expecting. Definitely should have researched ahead of time.
But luckily, I have a family member who specializes in custom paint jobs, so I asked him if he could paint simulated woodgrain and here's what he did:
Like most things, it looks even better in person. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out... figured some of you guitar enthusiasts would enjoy as well.
