Our first details. Nolan doing a "romantic thriller" in the vein of North by Northwest meets Inception.

SIGN. ME. UP.

Him doing yet another full-on sci-fi/action blockbuster didn't feel quite right again at this stage, but this seems like the perfect next step in his career; a tone he's danced around a bit in the past with elements of Inception (obviously) and even TDKR, but now he's full-on embracing it, and I couldn't be more excited...

A Darth Vader movie that takes place right after Revenge of the Sith. Maybe 2101: A Space Odyssey.

I do think he does a Bond movie within the next decade.

What? No way. Nolan doing Bond is like Denis Villeneuve directing porn.

Uh, what?

Nolan did Batman.

Nolan has straight up said he wants to direct a Bond movie. His only caveat is that he essentially wants to set the tone/vibe/world/etc. In other words, I bet he has serious discussions to direct the first new Bond after Craig is done.

Haha, so true! We know almost nothing about this one but there's not a movie between now and July 17, 2020 that I'm looking forward to more. I'm sure that we'll start seeing some cast announcements soon, but I plan on going on a self-imposed media blackout shortly after that so that I can go into this one as blind as possible. It's hard to do but totally worth it.

So your telling me if Dennis Villeneuve directed a porno you wouldn't watch that?

My point was a Nolan Bond film would be a very good thing.

My metaphor may have fallen short, which is my fault.

If only more directors felt this way...

While Nolan could not speak further about his upcoming project, he did make a rallying call for filmmakers around the world to direct movies that will entice filmgoers to leave their homes and get into movie theaters. Just as he always has done, Nolan said he will be working with exhibitors to ensure his new movie becomes a definitive theatrical experience.

"We will certainly be asking [exhibitors] to really help us, and asking you to be our partners in terms of putting on a show for the audience and giving them a reason to come out for the evening, and engage with the world of cinema which we all love so much," Nolan said. "What we never want to forget is the idea of showmanship - whatever the economic realities are, whatever costs need to be cut or corners need to be cut."

Nolan concluded by saying it is a "tremendously exciting time to be putting films into cinema" and that it is up to the directors themselves to create stories and work with exhibitors to ensure moviegoers will come to the theaters.

"The pressure is on us as never before to give people a reason to get out of the house," Nolan said. "To use the big canvas that [exhibitors] can supply us, and tell stories in an exciting way, and bring fresh ideas, fresh takes on existing genres and new genres inventing new genres."

Also, Dunkirk is the best theatrical experience I've had in the past few years. Incredible.

Nothing beats a Nolan movie in an IMAX theater.

Update: According to Warner Bros., this story which originated with Production Weekly is incorrect, and describing Christopher Nolan's new film as "North by Northwest meets Inception" is inaccurate. It's worth noting that Production Weekly is usually reliable, which might mean there's at least some truth to this description, but that Nolan and company are unhappy with it being out there at this time.

In other words, I'm betting it's the "premature" aspect they're upset with, not the accuracy.

Inception 2, the wife is pissed her husband is still asleep.

by the way, through years of watching and overanalyzing I know that he's still asleep, even if the totem falls.

Perhaps before they both went into limbo. Since he had her totem it doesn't matter if it falls or not because it only tells you if you're in someone else's dream(they say so in the movie). As it is apart of his dream, the totem can fall and he'll still be dreaming. It will fall over too since his dream is to return to his kids and it happens, and the totem will tell him what he believes he already knows(which is a false indicator). He is exactly where he wants to be at(Nolan said so).

Like I said too much overanalyzing...

Until I see an announcement stating otherwise, I'm just going to assume that Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy will all be in it.

Awesome casting, Pattinson's been killing it these past few years with great performances in indie films. With this film and possibly taking on the role of the Caped Crusader his career reinvention would be complete.

In a new interview with USA Today, Pattinson said he only read the script once and hasn't been able to look at it again since Warner Bros. and Nolan are doing everything they can to prevent spoilers from getting out. Plot or character details have not been announced, although sources close to the project have described it as a "massive, innovative, action blockbuster which will again be shown in Imax." Sounds about right for a Nolan movie.

"I got locked in a room to read the script I don't have it myself," Pattinson said. "I've been a little wary of doing big movies for years and years, but there's just something about Chris Nolan's stuff. He seems like the only director now who can do what is essentially a very personal, independent movie that has huge scale. I read the script and it's unreal."
