Those who favor Sean Connery will not like this. Not one bit.

A lot of interesting nuggets in that rundown, but none more juicy than this...

On the less official front, I have read thoughts from someone I believe to be close wth the production that the Broccolis are looking to do one more Bond then sell the franchise off, a la George Lucas/Star Wars/Disney.

Phil Nobile Jr. is basically the online authority when it comes to all things Bond, so I'd take him at his word. Granted, things could obviously change between now and then, but this makes sense.

My prediction?

One last Craig movie in 2019, the Broccolis sell the rights to Warner Bros. in 2020/2021, and WB then brings in Nolan to relaunch the franchise with a new actor for a 2023/2024-ish release. With no more Harry Potter by then (the Fantastic Beasts movies will be done), and their DC Extended Universe likely having long run its course (even though I imagine they'll never stop making Batman and Superman movies in varying iterations), WB will need a new franchises and Bond is perfect for them, considering their ties/loyalty to Nolan.

Should this come to fruition, it's the best of both worlds. Craig fans (myself included) get one, final Bond film out of him, and then the Broccolis pass the torch for a fresh start at a new studio.

I'd be sad to see the Broccoli's sell. The Bond movies are so special, and they have a large part to do with it. They are the remaining thread throughout the entire series. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I would hate to see it transform into something else.

Me too. I'm guessing that the rights to many of the iconic elements (the 007 logo, the theme music, the gun barrel opening sequence) are not owned by the Broccolis.

Who knows, could be a good thing. Depends on who get's it. My worry would be that a big studio might make too many to fast.

I'd love to see a reboot of the series, that follow the books. Make them period-appropriate as well. The cold war intrigue was what made the series for me.

Just FYI, Roger Deakins was the cinematographer on Skyfall, probably the best-looking and most popular of the Craig/Bond films. Deakins has also been the cinematographer on three of Villeneuve's films, Prisoners, Sicario, and Blade Runner 2049. So, one would think that a Villeneuve/Deakins Bond (no pun intended) could be a match made in heaven, along with a no-brainer to finish out Craig's run. Hopefully that ends up being the case.

I still don't get how they went from Bond Masterpiece Skyfall to Bond Fluster Cluck of deus ex machina in Spectre.

Same director, too. Sam Mendes did both Skyfall and Spectre.

That said, I don't hold Skyfall in as high regard as others might. My number one Craig/Bond is still Casino Royale.

Casino Royale is by far the best Craig film. Quantum was pretty terrible, Skyfall was ok, Spectre was ok until he shot down a helicopter with a 9mm from 500 yards away. Like, how did that make the final cut? What were they thinking?

I like all the Craig Bonds. At worst, they've been decent and entertaining.

I've never understood the hate for Quantum. It's not the best Bond, but it's not a bad film. It's much more personal than almost any other Bond. Skyfall was very well done. Spectre lost me with the unnecessary childhood connection between Bond and Blofeld. Why? The helicopter thing didn't bother me. It's a Bond film. They jumped the shark when they made the secret agent blurt out his actual name in broad daylight in Dr. No.

I do agree that Casino Royale is Craig's best.

In agreement on Quantum. I actually really enjoy that movie. That said, I haven't seen it in forever.

Will be fun to rewatch all four before this last one.

Just putting this out there: Craig will be 55 in 2023.

Love Casino Royale, but have Skyfall a step above.

Quantum didn't live up to those two, but it was a solid movie. At least it didn't have Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist or an invisible car or any of the crap in most of Roger Moore's movies.

Spectre had a lot of entertaining qualities, but it started off bad with Craig landing on the sofa when the roof collapses and ended with the 9mm shooting down the helicopter. Just embarrassing.

3 of Craig's 4 Bond films have been above average.

We're the middle of a great run of Bond.

He may be pushing it, age-wise, by then. Moore was 58 when he made A View to a Kill. And by then it was obvious he was too old to be playing the character.

Not saying that this is the same thing. Just thought I'd point it out.

But to poke holes in my own point and show that age isn't everything: Tom Cruise is still portraying Ethan Hunt and he's 55 right now but doesn't look it at all.

You do understand that he said this would be the last Craig Bond, followed by a new actor, right?

That's not exactly confirmed, but I just can't see Craig coming back after this one. Everything points to this being his last one.

Spectre is bad and Quantum is boring.

Casino Royale was damn good, that ventured into great because of the amazing Eva Green, who simply elevates everything she's in. Skyfall is overrated, but still pretty damn good, and Adele killed it.

I'd love to see Rebecca Ferguson try the new bond girl, she saved MI5.

Really what they need is to have bond go on freaking missions.... stop with this rogue/government betrayal etc etc. Oh, and ditch Blofeld.... that was sadly a miscast/misused.

Agreed 100%. I enjoyed Quantum and (hot take alert) think it's a better film than any of Brosnan's, including Goldeneye (I watched it about a year ago and it did not age well at all). The opera sequence in Quantum is top tier. That said, Casino Royale is easily the best Daniel Craig edition, and top 3 in the whole series.

Doubt they pull the lead lady from the other huge spy franchise for the lead in Bond.

I don't think Blofeld was miscast, but was definitely misused. The script and story for Spectre were terrible.

Say what you want about Spectre, but the first 10 minutes or so of that movie are absolutely incredible.
