How long do you want to ignore this user?
After watching Southpaw, I was thinking how great an actor Jake Gyllenhaal has become. Got me wondering who you guys think are the most and least versatile actors or actresses? After thinking about it a little while my votes for each are:
Most versatile: Tom Hanks
Least versatile: Vin Diesel
Definitely Not A Cop

Most Versatile is Leonardo DiCaprio.

Least versatile is Samuel L Jackson, and I don't think there is any debate about it.

I think there's a difference between recognizable and versatile. I think Sam Jackson has some versatility but he's instantly recognizable as Sam Jackson.

Most for me is Daniel Day-Lewis. Least is probably Vin Diesel.

There is a certain subtlety to effective trolling and you don't have it

Most versatile: Daniel Day Lewis, hands down.
Least versatile: sad to say, but these days Robert Deniro. All he does is play different versions of himself.

If I was trying to troll, I wouldn't have been quite so blatant.

Was thinking about DDL too, but didn't think he had the body of work that Tom Hanks does.

This was my thinking. Tom Hanks is probably as good of a comedic actor as he is a dramatic actor. Definitely can't go wrong with voting Hanks.
Bruce Almighty

I don't find Tom Hanks versatile. What he does, he does very well, but he basically plays different versions of himself. Same goes for Denzel Washington. Every role is a cocky black man. No one is even in the same league as Daniel Day Lewis. As far as least versatile, my vote goes for Adam Sandler.

Not a true star, but gotta give a shout out for Richard Jenkins. Dude can play almost anything.

I can't decide if I'd put Denzel Washington as most or least.

But for real least: Vince Vaughn (maybe minus hacksaw ridge)

Agree with Gary Oldman as most versatile. Dude is a chameleon. Brian Cox is also a good choice. Most reliable character actor out there.

I'm gonna float Jake Gyllenhall out there.

No offense but you start a thread about most/least versatile across and list Tom Hanks as most versatile?

Tom Hanks plays Tom Hanks in every roles he's in except Cloud Atlas and he wasn't that great in it.

For me:
Most Versatile: Tilda Swinton
Least Versatile: Paul Walker (RIP (man I must be in a bad mood tonight))

I've got to throw Brad Pitt's name in the hat for most versatile. The dude is nails in almost everything he does.

Least versatile is the skinny kid from Superbad. Also the fat kid from Superbad.

Yes to Wolf, no to Money. I didn't notice anything especially remarkable from Wolf, but it's been awhile.

I was going to post him, too. Generally people don't really think of him as a great actor, but he is by far my favorite actor.

Israeliag- Tom Hanks didn't play himself in Forrest Gump or the character after he got lost in Cast Away, but can agree he does have a lot of roles that would come easy for him.

It was a good performance, but it was still just a lower IQ Tom Hanks. Many good actors could have done that role.
