I'm sure this has been done, but what is the most shocking or surprising death of a character in a movie?

"Goose" comes to mind for some reason, but surely that's not anywhere near the top. I'm drawing a blank for some reason.

That one Ewok in the Ewok movie...heartbreaking. Also, Optimus Prime. Oh, and Artex. He let the sadness get to him...RIP.

I don't think they put this kind of **** in "family" movies anymore.

Turn to my friends in the theater and was all, "but isn't he the main character?"

Notable others:

-red dress girl
-shoe in who framed roger rabbit
-bambi's mom
-first 20 minutes of Saving private ryan (radio guy, 'you lucky son of a bich' guy, etc.)
-old yeller
-Glory (didn't know the history prior to seeing this wasn't expecting them to all die).

I believe he had top billing too. Dead in the first 5-10 minutes.

came here to post this... Segal was at the peak (or coming off of it) of his movie career and the expectation was for him to yet again, be a badass in this movie. Then, poof...
