This is one of the better shows out right now, without much competition in terms of dark plots. Great acting also.

I went back and watched the episode where the girls disappeared again. When they were running through the forest, it appeared to be them racing each other. At the end, Evie stopped and put her arms up like she broke the tape at a finish line. Didn't look fearful like trying to escape a kidnapper or anything.

And the prehistoric scene kind of paralleled the modern day, with the mother dying and another woman taking the baby. Nora basically did the same thing with holy Wayne's kid.

I'll ask again, has a secondary departure ever been documented? I thought no, so the girls departing would be the first and what are the odds that takes place in the town where departures don't happen?

I believe that Freddy Rumsen told Nora at the BBQ place that there had not been a confirmed 2nd departure.

this season has been far better than the last. they did a good job of cutting down side plots but think they could still do more.

yes...that is correct. There has not been a 2nd departure. That's why Nora went to talk to neighbor mom...to encourage her to talk to Freddy Rumsen and he can help prove that it didn't happen.

there are things that could lead one to believe it won't be a departure. One of the townspeople does mention fracking as a cause of the earthquakes in the first episode. There is that mysterious 'scientist' at the lake that Evie talked to and I think another she makes eyes at. Michael suggested that she might be at the lake when no one had any idea where to look the night Evie did not come home.

Then there are things that point to departure. Kevin's suicide attempt while unconscious, Evie's epileptic fit the same night, the car being Locked and running, Erika's wishing her daughter away more or less, the naked running scene not looking like an escape, and the prehistoric scene with the earthquake indicates quakes have gone on in this area for a long time (not fracking).

Lots of animal symbology going on that I don't fully understand. Tons of depth to the show.

I think the girls return, most people will believe it was not a departure, but a few (Kevin, Michael) will. The viewer will be left to decide.

Pretty much the last line is all that matters. There won't be a concrete answer for us.

I can't remember if we talked about it or not...but wow, the decision to use Iris DeMent -Let The Mystery Be as the theme song is so freaking perfect this year. I never fast forward. I let the whole song and intro play every time before watching each ep.

And I think it goes perfectly with the idea(that I agree with) that it'll be up for the viewer to decide.

Agree the change in opening is key. Last season's was so fricking dark and epic and over important.

They've been playing that song every episode in some different form or another.

Pretty music every song they've used has been great this year. The theme song is so great, though the whole intro makes my wife uncomfortable (which is kinda the point). The main piano music is as haunting of music used in tv/movies that I can remember.

Similar to Lost with Locke vs Jack, are you a man of science or faith. Kevin has been struggling is there a scientific reasoning to see Patti or is it a spirit battle where he needs to rely on faith. He took the faith route. We'll see how it turns out.
Also Kevin had handcuffs on his hand very similar to everyone's favorite Korean Jin!

I've said it before and I'll say it again... This is the best thing on TV right now.

Completely agree. Between this and Fargo, I could be happy watching no other dramas. Cannot believe the abundance of quality TV shows these days.

I love this show. I'll be honest, I don't think I really even grasp what the hell is going on, but it has me hooked and I can't stop watching it. I just know it's entertaining and I find the dark, depressing s*** that's happening is strangely addictive.

Incredible episode. The depth is astounding.

I actually don't want patty to be gone. That was a crazy episode. I usually don't like dream sequence type stuff but that was really good.

She has been great but I think for the future of the show she needs to be gone. But I definitely know what you mean
