but probably most importantly to Kevin, why he had a cinder-block tied to his ankle.

See I found that part kind of weird. Like, did he really NOT realize that was why it was there? Was that not OBVIOUS to everyone?

Also it was mentioned early that it appeared like the crazy guy on the tower might be able to see Patti. I thought that too at first, but on second thought it seems like a perfectly natural question to ask someone you witness have a screaming conversation with no one. "uhhh so, who's your friend?"

So was she lying? I took the girls running naked through the woods to be probably after the so called "disappearance".

So far this season is better than last I think.

I still think the girls running through the woods was in another time/reality. They seemed happy, free of worry, free of clothes!

I'm not sure if she is real or not. She directed him right to his phone, and the crazy guy living on the tower, connected to the believer son of John Murphy, asked who his friend was after Patti told him the girls disappeared. She also mentioned it was an act of God that kept him alive.

Patti leading him to his phone only means he already knew exactly where he'd lost it...but it was blacked out along with everything else.

The crazy guy in the tower asking "who's your friend" means nothing. If you saw someone yelling at and crying with an imaginary person, that question wouldn't be far fetched. Plus, even if he did see Patti...that guy in the tower is crazy.

And it was an act of God that saved Kevin. He didn't need Patti to tell him that.

quote:
But they already included the idea that Kevin's dad's "voices in his head" may have been "real" as well. If they end up explaining the departures, they may come up with some lame excuse for those seeing invisible people.
Mental disorders can be inherited, so Kevin's dad being crazy only supports the idea of Kevin being crazy. Crazy people justify their insanity or explain it off to sane people sometimes. It doesn't mean they're not crazy.

Kevin HAD been talking to someone, whether she was "actually" there or not. Note that Tower Guy did not mention the age or sex (or anything else) of the "friend. Probably just going along with Kevin.

That wasn't my favorite episode, or even one that I particularly liked. But I love that the reverend doesn't take **** from anyone no matter what will happen to him.

So is he repenting because he denied the truth about his wife waking up when confronted by Kevin's neighbor, or is he repenting because Kevin's neighbor was actually right?
DannyDuberstein
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think the former. Based on his statement to Kevins neighbor at the end, I think he really believes she woke up.

Btw, if I ever do get stuck in a Groundhog Day scenario (by force or choice), please let me not have eaten a microwave burrito that day. Hoping I had some bacon at breakfast, a damn good burger at lunch, and filet mignon or maybe some really good bbq for dinner.

That episode was terrible. The final song was the worst thing I've ever heard

I dunno. I wasn't a fan of the episode either overall but the more I think about it the more it works. I just can't stand the Matt and his wife storyline, but I still wanted to see some sort of resolution. I felt so bad for both the entire episode. Strong acting

Strong acting by Matt for sure. The wife had a pretty easy role

Almost impossible for a wife to remain quiet that long. Incredible acting

you'd get tired of bacon and filets eventually. It's bound to happen.

I would, but not nearly as quickly as a nuked burrito.

I found it odd that the son of an Episcopalian reverend would be uncircumcised... I thought that was a major thing with that group.

Why did Nora throw a rock through the Murphy window in the first place? that is something I didn't get.

What we found out:

  • Nora could be a "lens" and possessed so that people around her depart and end up in harm.
  • Mrs. Murphy wants to leave John, and the bird in the box told her so and caused her daughter's departure.
  • Guy sacrificing goats because he did on the departed day
  • Kevin's into some deep **** for telling Nora he sees Patty
  • Damon likes Schmitty's over Kreuz's or Blacks

This is season is better than last, maybe because it takes place in Central Texas, maybe it is better without the GR, Wayne, and NJ. But it is still very heavy, and there is nothing lighthearted. How about a family bath time with Lily where it's slow motion splashing, or a fun time making pies in the kitchen. Something to lighten the mood each week but "It's HBO."

I think she threw the rock because she's pissed John wouldn't help her brother unconditionally.

I believe it was seen before the opening credits rolled. It was right after crazy scientist showed up at her place. Which makes me question why she would throw a rock at the Murphy's. I doubt it was because of her brother.

The use of Jim James' State of the Art (AEIOU) at the start of the show immediately woke me up and set the tone for the episode. The power is going out. The Lens theory is intriguing and I'm glad we got some answers to some of the mini-mysteries.

LOL, when I FFWD through the opening credits I stopped with Nora caring for Mary... Totally missed it.

I had to rewind the whole scene with Nora asking the interview questions because all I could see was THAT DAMNED EYELASH ON NORAS RIGHT CHEEK.

And then it was gone when they cut to a different angle. It was so obvious, I'm really surprised they didn't catch that!

I need to go rewatch. Are we sure it was Nora? Any chance it was Mary?
