Remember that day clearly. It felt like the best time to be a Star Wars fan in my lifetime.

See, that's what I'm thinking. Just treat it and A New Hope as one, long movie basically. I feel like they'd respond to the franchise as a whole better if it kicked off with something modern and more fast-paced instead of something from the '70s.

Original trilogy first, then Rogue One, then prequels. Everything that's good about RO and the prequels is dependent on the originals.

Do them in the natural order we all know
4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 7, 3.93, 8, 3.77, 9. It's pretty easy.
And they haven't seen Star Wars by age 7? Call CPS on their parents.

I think it's called Machete Order, but thats what I'd recommend. Its:
4,5,1,2,3,6 -- then whatever else you want to do. This way, the arc of Anakin at the end of Return of the Jedi is much more meaningful. It also save the "I am your father" reveal. And if you start kids on something more modern than the originals, they may never be able to sit thru them. Start them with the slower stuff, if they are still interested then you know they are hooked haha.

I actually like the idea of 4,5,1,2,3,6,7,8,9, but maybe for older kids and teens.
I think for younger kids, it might be confusing to jump back and forth between the OT and PT.
