my Florence + the Machine thread got me thinking... What are some of my favorite "Debut Album, Track 1s", that is, great lead tracks off debut albums. So you've never heard this band, you buy the album and pop it on, and this song is your introduction to the band and what's in store.

Also, very solid call on Kanye's lead track. Hip Hop is a hard genre because of all the damn skits. But if I'm allowed to skip those, then Nas starting off with "NY State of Mind" was a solid one

"Precious" by The Pretenders. Also gets a vote for best entire "side one" of an album, debut or not.

"Cherub Rock" wasn't on their debut album.

"I Am One" is a good choice though. You still hear that drum intro all over the place.

Cowboys from Hell - Pantera

(While not technically their debut album, it was their major label debut and the earliest album most people own or are even aware of)
