Think how many threads that Brandon could have moderated in the time it took him to write that long explanation.

#1. Make moderators public instead of anonymous and hold them to a set of rules outlining moderation.

#2. Limit the number of global moderators and make most moderators specific to a certain forum in which they are most active.

#3. Make a specific set of rules for posters instead of "You agreed that posting is a privilege and not a right and that any message posted can be deleted for any or no reason whatsoever and that posting privileges can be revoked for any or no reason at all" because that's really BS.

If you really want to change moderation for the better, look at a successful internet forum and draw from their moderation techniques.

That, combined with anonymous mods.

Basically, if you piss off one mod they will hound you, regardless of the validity of anything you post. Sometimes people HAVE to resort to socks to get away from a vengeful moderator because that one statement gives one angry mod free reign.
