  • Fired up the smoker before 5am
  • Trimmed a prime 14lb brisket - coated it with salt and pepper and put it on the smoker
  • plan on wrapping the brisket in butcher paper when it stalls
  • running pecan and oak for fuel
  • 4lb turkey breast and 2 racks of baby backs go on before lunch
  • pool most of the afternoon
  • try not to get hammered before everyone gets here

Chilling w Jake. I thought about scanning some dogs but gas prices are making me re-think running all over BCS all the time. There's always an uptick in lost / found dogs with all the fireworks.

Lots of us have issues in the past that we might change if we had the opportunity. What should I have done with a relationship or job or education or investment opportunity or family interaction that could have been better?

Doesn't matter. I can't go back. What I have today is what there is to work with. I'll have to make the best of it and try to get a little better every day.

As to the point of life? What are we doing here?

No idea. Some days it all seems like a stupid waste of time. Other days it is great. But I'll tell you this, if Jesus shows up riding in on a cloud while I'm still on this planet, I'm going to tap my watch and say "You think you could have gotten here sooner? We have been wasting time down here with no clue what the point is of all this!"

- Covid Day 9. This may be the day I'm more out less back to normal. We'll see if any fatigue sets in this afternoon, but I'm not as congested as I've been.
- Haven't been able to work out this whole time. Think I should be able to do a light Peloton workout today.
- Find time for a nap.

It's an Old Countty brand smoker. It's now sold at Academy. I got it directly from them before they sold them at Academy.
