In a place with clear skies you can see all sorts of satellites on any given night. It's best in a short window when it's basically dark on the ground where you are, but the sun is still hitting the upper atmosphere where the satellites are. The reflection off the satellites is most visible at that time.
Freaked me out the first time. But my dad said they were moving in the right direction to be satellites. He's one of those kind of guys that would know which direction a satellite was "supposed" to be moving.
