I do my own black beans - soak overnight, cook, and and some onions, cilantro, garlic and cumin. They're so good.

I personally CANNOT STAND black eyed peas - taste like little packets of sand to me.

Never understood the hate for beans in chili.

Nothing wrong with some ranch style beans in chili.

I love chili and rice , even scramble some eggs with it. Sauted mushrooms
Layer it

Rice
Cheese
Scrambled eggs
Chili
Top with the mushrooms

I don't understand the hate for beans in chili either. Chili is great with or without beans.
