Just found out today that Supermarket Sweep is making a comeback, and the original host might be announcing it:

That made me think what would be the optimized strategy to win the "sweep" portion of the show in today's super markets?

Punching out a fellow contestant for your allotted 5 hams and cheeses is still a given, but what else could you grab to maximize the score? Maybe grab some "dry aged wagyu" fillets on the way to the inflated monster energy bonus item?

Clean out the pharmacy and meth supplies

Saffron....if they have a bulk section, just grab the container.

The fancy imported cheese and meat products seem to be the best way to quickly rack up a big total.

You also have to consider things like cart weight. Running straight to the giant hams and turkeys may sound like a good idea, but you have to push the cart around and you don't want to get winded. Load the carts with lighter items first like diapers and go for the heavy stuff at the end because you don't have to push your cart all the way to the checkout counter before the buzzer goes off.

Avoid time sucks like the coffee grinder. Much more efficient uses of time.

If you have the time advantage, use it to find the bonus items and run them back to the checkout. Bonus items in general are usually worth it.
