Some districts have prohibited bear crawls, up downs, dirty hundreds, monkey rolls etc in any instance.

I didn't read the article, but whoever ordered this is probably gonna be fired.

Just real wussification of the youth.

Our baseball coach made us run stadiums in baseball cleats. I never understood the point and it resulted in a few sprained ankles.

1970, Basic Combat Training, we did low crawls every morning, and sometime several times a day. Our elbow hardly ever healed. Go tell my Drill SGT, about these poooooor bad little dears.

I still find dirt from Sand Hill in places I'd rather not mention.

"Back in my day, my coach made me......"

Shut the **** up. Nobody cares.

And nobody cares if your kid's basketball coach made her do bear crawls for skipping class.

I'd be pissed off if my responsible kid who didn't skip class and managed to be on time was punished like that and got blisters.

I'd be pissed off if I had kids and felt compelled to pretend to care about these little pansies.

Just to be clear, you are comparing your ability as an adult in the military to a 12 year old girls basketball team.

It's never too young to learn some discipline. Probably why so many young girls are fat pigs by 18 these days as well.

I'd be pissed if my responsible kid and his responsible buddies didn't kick the crap out of the kid(s) that got them punished. Peer discipline is more effective than discipline from an authority figure. That's why it was done the way it was done.

The whole building of a team thing and so on and so forth. Blisters heal quick.

The juvenile delinquent kids dont give a crap what the responsible kids think. So barring an actual, illegal ass-kicking...

And then you see video of a Central Texas high school student enforcing peer discipline that goes viral for "bullying" get kicked off the team and punished by the school.

And that's why our society is going down the crapper.

I am a big believer in punishing a kid when they do something bad and not punishing kids that did not do anything bad. I don't understand the point of group punishment for the sins of a few. Is the point so that the other kids go beat up the bad kid to keep them in line? Isn't that bullying which is not allowed and might even lead to assault and battery charges in today's world?

Also, bear crawls should be done on grass only.

Because of activity involving a girl's sports team?

it actually wasn't a girls sports team, it was a class taught by a girls sports coach. also, it was a joke.

Sir, we're trying to have a serious discussion here about toughening up young ones through aimless abuse. If you have nothing serious to contribute, please kindly pass by.

I don't think many of the "ehmergerd murrica is soft" posters actually read the story.

This wasn't some high school football coach doing this. It is a 7th grade girls basketball coach lol.

If my 12 yr old daughter came home from basketball practice looking like this, hell yea I'd be pissed

The point is your individual actions affect everyone. It's to help you think about doing your individual assignment so that everyone can work as a collective unit.

We had to do similar activities on my football team back in the 90s.

A football team is a group of individuals working towards a common goal. Forcing individuals to learn to sacrifice for the team good is a key part of being on a team. But this was a classroom, not a team, and in the classroom everyone is in competition with everyone else. There is no lesson or benefit from group punishment when one person has screwed up.

Teacher is a socialist. No reason to punish the kids in a classroom that didn't do anything wrong. If it was just the little ****s that got the discipline, I'd be somewhat sympathetic.
