Why the heck do you need to wear shoes inside your own home? I go barefoot and if I need to step outside to get the mail or whatever, I put on flip flops.

I have dry feet so I have to wear socks. Socks are not a great combination with wood stairs. Throwing on a pair of slippers helps with traction.
