Family vacation to SPI in two weeks; and it just occurred to me that I haven't actually been on a beach since Cabo April 2018.

Some people have never been to a beach in their life. But for me it was Maui in Feb
I'm a ginger, so I don't think I'm legally allowed to go to a beach.

It's been a long time... more than a year. I am just not a big beach person unless it is one of those awesome beaches that you usually have to drive or fly to get to.

I was surf fishing during college and caught a shark and this lady comes up asking to see it blah blah. Come to find out she is like 50 and that was the first time she had ever seen the ocean. OOF.

The last time was Saturday night. But I don't call her that or else I wouldn't get to do that anymore.
Destin two weeks ago. Didn't catch the flesh eating bacteria. Will be in bay area all next week. Will hit the beaches around Santa Cruz and up by Muir Woods. Water is cold but the nips are hard.

7 Days ago now. Hapuna Beach on the Big Island. Aside from the sunburns associated with now having tender skin from living in the PNW, really really nice place.
About this time last year. I go kayak fishing offshore a couple times each summer.

Ft Lauderdale beach last month
The last time, I was just laying there minding my own business, and a bunch of Greenpeace folks came up and tried to push me back into the ocean. I decided to lose a little weight before I try to go back.
Been close to two years. We are lake and mountain people, not beach people. I am going in September though.

Santa Cruz in early June and west palm beach in late June this year.
This week in Hawaii. I much prefer fresh water though.

Green Sand Beach and South Point cliffs was cool. Be prepared to pay 10 bucks each way for a ride to the beach or hike ~1 hour each way. We hiked in, rode out. If you want a nice beach day Hapuna is probably the best on the island. Waipi'o valley was cool with a nice black sand beach at the bottom. Supposedly the other side (Pololu valley is easier to hike down to and also is a black sand beach) If you can rent a 4wd jeep you can drive down the road instead of hiking. It's a big island. Takes a while to get places. I had a >really< good burger at Rebel Kitchen down in that area. There are night-time manta ray tours worth doing. Aloha One shave ice is the best on the island. Kona Brewing company was a cool place/nice meal. We did a good kayak-snorkel tour to a sea turtle cleaning station where the turtles all show up to get their shells picked clean by fish. Really cool. That was just a smidge south of our hotel (the Westin). There's a ton of stuff to do but we were a touch limited due to having a nearly 3 y.o. with us.
Enjoy your trip! (also make sure your sunscreen is reef safe or wait to buy it there.)
