I'm old school, but my vote has always been Geoff Tate back in the day with Queensryche. That guy's voice was just awesome:

It's Geoff Tate and there's no other answer unless it might be a chick.

I know it's opera - but this girl is amazing.

Rachele Gilmore sings The Doll Song from The Tales of Hoffmann. She was an understudy for Kathleen Kim in the role of Olympia in the opera. She only had a four hours' notice that she would sing that night. She ended up singing a High A-flat, the highest note to have ever been sung at the Met.

Technically, Bee Gees sang falsetto which imo doesn't count in hitting the high notes with your normal vocal register.

Yeah, when the onstage talent breaks character and gives a standing ovation to a singer, you know you heard something special.

Too many notes! There are in fact only so many notes the ear can hear in the course of an evening.

A great lead singer for the forgotten band Steelheart, Miljenko Matijevic, had a terrific high octave voice. The group was really only around for a couple of years back during the height of the metal/glam rock era. He was onstage performing when a scaffold fell and broke his jaw and damaged other areas of his face. That pretty much ended him and Steelheart.

Sadly, after only 40 some odd years, he can't hit the high notes anymore.

Brad Delp is a good one, but I have to go with Rik Emmett from Triumph. "Fight the good fight everybody, every minute every day!"

(And did I miss Steve Perry? Surprised if he wasn't named...)

I'll 3rd Chris Cornell.

Also, someone posted a YouTube vid of Morgan James doing Postmodern Jukebox on here a while back. I was impressed with her.
