Trying something new this year. Will use an electric roaster (same as always), but we will try to keep it turned on or plugged in.

Thanksgiving 2016 - Never turned roaster on.
Thanksgiving 2017- Turned roaster on, but accidentally unplugged it about 1 hour into cooking.

I'm a turkey traditionalist, but it sure is crazy how much time it takes to make a turkey taste good.

22lb turkey in the fryer (followed by 4 whole chickens, but those go in the freezer for other days)

14lb turkey in the oven - only to give us a proper vessel in which to cook the cornbread dressing. The meat from this bird will be used in soups, pot pies, & gumbo in future days.
