Thai Taste was awesome!!

Did you know the Asian guy that worked there who smoked and always had Bud tall boys in the fridge. He never smiled. My wife and I nicknamed him "Grumpy".
Yep! He was the owner. I have quite a few funny stories about him, as I was really good friends with his son back in HS and spent virtually every weekend at their house for 3 years. I don't remember him ever drinking Bud, though. It was always Beck's.

It's funny that many of you (rightfully) call out townies in the pejorative sense, but lament having access to the food that brings back so many memories.

You're old. You know that, right? I'm not trying to be mean. It's just that old people forget stuff sometimes. Like the fact that they're old.

After closing, the cooks would sometimes teach me their recipes, but it's been way too long and I never wrote anything down.

My BIL was another one of the waiters and still remembers how to make Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, and chicken garlic.

Yes, it was great. But, everyone around you the next day died from the garlic leaking out of your pores.

Chocolate malt at the creamery before it moved across the tracks. They were solely responsible for getting me to Org Chem lectures.

- Wings n More
- Los Nortenos especially their huge breakfast burritos
- Los Cucos was also great back in the day.
- I also have to mention La Familia. I would go often to get breakfast burritos. It got to a point where she would recognize my voice and ask if i wanted the usual. When i moved to Dallas and hadn't been around for a couple years, I came back to get some breakfast. When she saw me, she smiled and asked, "do you want your usual?"
- Gumbys 50 cent pizza roll night. My wife and I always picked some up for our weekly 24 watching night.
- On very special occasions, we would go to Maddens in downtown Bryan
- it was hard to beat the $5 monster from Freebirds.
- Finally, there was one guy who had a food truck that would stop at an office I worked at in Bryan off of William j Bryan. He sold these breakfast tacos that were really good. I would always get the chorizo and egg with an extra tortilla because he put so much food for one tortilla. Really greasy and great.

Really was great - the original taco place for me. I worked at the DeLuxe and had some roommates that worked at LaTaq. Both owned by the same person.

Great times back in the late '80's.

These are mine, too. Loved going to Fitz for a burger, beer, and fries after a full morning of classes. And it was super cheap! At least I can still hit WnM when I go back for games.
