This evening my 46 pound pit mix had an altercation with a juvenile rattlesnake. The snake got her. She's currently getting over night antivenom in the hands of some A&M educated veterinarians.

Prayers still appreciated.

So maybe the solution then is to arm infants with pet rattlesnakes.

My dog is the most loving creature and the closest I'll ever get to having children. She's still getting antivenom pumped into her and she's not doing well. Thanks for being so compassionate. I really feel the Aggie Spirit right now.

One of my collies has been bitten by a copperhead and a rattler. She made it through just fine, though she does have a scar from the rattler bite. Odds are good for most dogs who receive proper care.

Hope the cat scan and lab test come back alright.

In all seriousness, hope your pup is ok. I'd go nuts if it happened to my dog. And yes, Aggie vets are a blessing. We love ours.

I'm honestly shocked the clinic has antivenom on hand unless you want to the vet school.

Aggie vets are the best. They were amazing with my last dog during her last years of her life. Been great with my new pup. One amwas almost is tears when they had to put my dog back under to go in and get some bandages she happened to swallow while in their care. One happens to be my neighbor.

Hope your dog heals quickly.

Maybe it's more common than I thought. My wife has never worked at a clinic that had it although she's always been at city/suburban clinics.

My wife was treating a rott out in odessa that got bit in the head. That poor dog's head was in the shape of a basketball afterward. Didn't make it.

I was bit by a prairie rattlesnake in 2015. That was a damned unpleasant ordeal. I hope your puppy gets to feeling better soon.

Not cheap. $2500 total on the emergency vet bill
I received 12 vials of antivenin. $15,000 a pop. My total bill was close to $250K. If there is ever a next time, I may go a see a good Aggie vet myself.
