Spying on your mom soaping up her hogans.
They're for photos and videos of scenery from a different viewpoint. They're not for spying on neighbors, despite what all the internet tough guys claim when they threaten to shoot down the next one they see.

Went with some buddies and caught an 11' tiger at the end of July on Shell Island.
Without drones, a bagpipe would just be a recorder fastened to a bag.

Also legit surveying applications. They don't just fly around and take pretty pictures.
Attach LYDAR to a drone and you can survey a site in a day instead of weeks. Can get real time information for minimal cost.
OP, are you really asking about Drones or do you mean Quadcopters?

BTW, TAMUCC (and the TAMU system) is one of only 6 FAA approved UAS test sites.
The applications of drones are myriad. They're used to do SAR and disaster recovery (including Harvey). In the future, they WILL be doing commercial package delivery.

I'm concerned about the potential of tiny drones. Like insect size. Flying into all sorts of places for nefarious means. CEO offices. Competitor work places. Bathrooms and locker rooms. Football opponents practices and meeting rooms. How does a person or entity protect against this?
who knows what the military can do with drones, or what will be available in the future, but the commercially available drones are almost useless in areas where there are major obstructions or large amounts of metal (rebar reinforcement). Trying to fly indoors is very difficult when in the same room, if remote, it will be even harder.
Doesn't mean it cant or wont happen but I think we are a ways off from that being a big concern.
