Dude buying a Miata isn't a mid life crisis. It's just a crisis. Shoulda got a jacked up golf cart.
People making fun of Miatas probably haven't driven one. My in-laws used to have one, and it was a blast to drive.

My uncle used to have a Miata. He's also gay, but I don't think that's a causative thing.

Seriously, how much fun is it driving in a tiny car with two seats an no top? A Jeep? Sure. Polaris? Fun. Scooter? Kind of fun but very cheap.
Fun-to-dollar ratio on a Miata doesn't work imo.
A miata is something you buy for your 16 year old. A mid lifecrisis car is like an Audi convertible or Porsche

My mid life crisis happened in my early 40s. I bought a Dodge Stratus and I mention it in common conversation as often as possible.
