We pay $85mo to stream cable + internet.

If you have fiber optic in your neighborhood I would reccommend the AT&T interent. Finally got it out here and just had the guy run fiber into the house and install a new router for free. I believe the service is like around $50 a month. Cut Spectrum off and have Apple TV, Dish, Netflix and Amazon Prime. Make friends with the guys at AT&T and they can throw you some $100 coupons to make it all better.

Yeah I qualified for food stamps with my $480 per month phone and media bill. My case worker said "smart move". They really try to help ya there. They said it makes them feel good .... inside.

This thread motivated me to switch providers. Was up to about $140 a month for the triple play (recent hike from 115). Now back to 95 a month.. plus i prefer uverse to the cable company, anyway

Amazon fire sticks with Amazon Prime, Netflix, Terrarium, Mobdro.

$99 a year for Amazon
$11 a month for Netflix (only have this so kids can watch on their devices)

Thinking about PS Vue and doing internet separate. Anybody have experience with Vue?

Buy a decent internet package and dump the ancient TV service. The only reason not to stream anymore is if you live in a rural area with bunk internet service.

My internet alone is $130/month. I'm guessing most of ya'll live in major metro areas with actual competition.

Not all the time, but seriously, I don't have cable/satellite. We have up to three streams in our house, download a lot of games from Steam, and keep a lot of stuff updated on dropbox and crashplan. I typically use between 650-750, but don't want to take the risk with ridiculously high overage charges. I also do not have 1Gbps speed only 100Mbps. I live in a mid size city and cablelynx internet is our only option besides 3Mbps AT&T Uverse.

Apparently Spectrum no longer charges rental fees for modems. I never really paid attention to my bill, but i've been paying $10/mo for modem rental since i moved into my house in 2011. My modem was acting up last week, so I went and bought one to replace it, and so i could get the rental fee off my bill. When I took the modem back to Spectrum, they told me they don't charge for them anymore... There's no telling how long that $10/mo fee has been lingering on my bill, when they don't even charge that fee anymore...
