Dope and alcohol gets another one.
I am good friends with a member of the Cassidy family. David indeed lead a less-than-perfect life to be sure. However, near his death, he completely reconciled with his ex-wife, his children, and with his siblings. Some were people that he hadn't spoken to in years. He did relate to my friend (his relative) that he lost all interest in alcohol in his final months. He also came to believe that several circumstances relating to how his family came together before he died made him realize that nothing other than God could have put those pieces together. David said that he knew that he was "touched by God...no other explanation...Divine intervention...I know this was an act of God". I don't know why it's so hard for people in show business to keep on the straight and narrow, and you don't need to believe this to be from a true source, but I know with certainty that David lived a tumultuous life but died a peaceful death.
