FiveThirtyEight compiled a list of the most banned wedding reception songs due to being perceived as overplayed/cliche/cheesy by those getting married.

So a handful of songs that everyone finds tacky plus a bunch of stuff that has been enduringly popular for several years/decades.

But the fact that this list exists illustrates the more important point: big weddings are a waste of money. Your guests don't actually care, you'll be divorced in three years anyways, and everyone will just be ungrateful and respond to surveys about which music they hate the most.

Popular group/line dances are the easiest way to get people out on the dance floor. Not sure why you'd want to ban them all.

Bohemian Rhapsody seems like an odd choice for a wedding.

this list is the making of a crazy person, ie; bridezilla. Anyone who agrees with it in principle or practice is equally crazy.

I don't care what all is played as long as they mix in that song where we all go "the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire, we don't need the water, let the motherfcker burn!". My children love that song and I like seeing 80 year old ladies letting it fly out their mouths.

From article:

Quote:

In rare cases, couples ask that an entire genre be eliminated. In such cases, they typically follow MySpace Music Taste rules: no country (10 percent of weddings) and sometimes no rap (3 percent).

No country?

UnAmerican.

Huh... I guess it's the white trash in me, but I would be happy to have about half those "banned" songs at my wedding.

Someone should have a wedding reception using only banned songs.

Just got married this past weekend. We specifically only allowed 2 line dances which did not include cupid shuffle. My aunt requested it and got rejected by the DJ so she came to ask me if it was ok. I didn't really care at the time and said it was fine and the damn dance floor was full for it. I hate it but lots love it so whatever. There are more important things to worry about at a wedding.
