run over it.

the post will be bent and he'll be forced to replace it.

With any luck, he'll have video footage of you doing so and sue you to give you something real to complain about.

-Ready mix concrete bag $3.50
-Fence post $8.50
-Mailbox $11.00 (there's a range but that's the cheapest)
-Hardware is nominal at this point. A few screws and you're in business.
Need tools???
-Shovel $10.00
-Hand saw $10.00
-Phillips head $6.00
So, all in you're about $50. Is it worth it to "fix" your problem while he's off lawyering one day????

-a cursory search of Home Depot so prices may vary.
I would just spray paint the mailbox with a wood color paint.

Come on, buddy. That mailbox does look like crap and should have been fixed. It's easy to cast off problems that don't affect you.

If this guy wanted to control his neighbors property he should have moved into a HOA neighborhood.

His mailbox is good already, just cement that sucker into the ground or buy a 4x4x6' for $7 and cement it in place and then cut it and attach the box. If you own a home and don't have a shovel already, you need to be hit upside the head by a shovel instead.

What does that matter? That someone else should have the courtesy and wherewithal to fix their eyesore.

agreed it's ugly but it's not on your property and this isn't an HOA enforced community.

if he's that sore about it, offer to fix it. I'm sure the lawyer neighbor will let him.

Well then go move to one and take the op with you

I will side with the neighbor's right to own his property and enjoy it as he sees fit.

Our trash pickup is early Saturday morning and everyone puts their trashcans out on Friday night. They are expected to be gone by Monday. There were a few times when we would put them out Friday and then leave town -- we got a notice the first time -- after that notice, we got a $100 fine each time. We don't leave our trash out anymore. To some people, it might seem crazy, but an HOA is a good thing.

Some people really don't give a damn what their mailbox looks like.

You shouldn't either.

I doubt that a neighbor's leaning mailbox is going to drop your property values.

Make up a chain letter pay it forward thing. Replace the mailbox yourself and leave attached letter for him to pay it forward for someone else

Now if he porks YOUR wife as his pay it forward it is a win win for him

or you can live in a kick ass neighborhood where you just leave your trash cans behind your back fence and never have to move them.

I have some acreage where I can do that, but I prefer my Austin area home/neighborhood to be kept up to a common compliance. Alleys usually equal old properties. Outside of Terrytown, I don't care for old.

Be neighborly. If you have the time and skill, go tell him you noticed that his mailbox is falling over, and tell him you wouldn't mind helping him fixing it.

Maybe he will say yes, and you can get the mailbox to look the way you want it to. Maybe he will say no, but it will let him know he should get it fixed because people are noticing how it looks. Maybe he will say no, and do nothing, but you will know that at least you tried. Whatever happens, you know you did the right thing.

Offer to help him fix it. Don't be a jerk. Humor goes a long way. Passive aggressiveness will not.

My neighbor goes through my garbage can to look for nice things we're throwing away. They also found out I work in IT so they come by my house every time they have a question regarding anything in their house that consumes electricity. They also have a rat dog that I know I am going to back over one day because it is the size of a football and they don't try to hard to keep it anywhere close while they are outside on the phone.

I would love to just have to deal with my neighbor having a plastic mailbox. Come to think of it, I couldn't tell you what my neighbor's mailbox looks like. It doesn't crack the Top 500 in my list of priorities.

A grill guard? OP lives in the middle of Plano. No person who lives inside the city limits with a pickup that never leaves pavement would ever feel the need to own a truck with a grill guard, right?

So from what I've gathered from the OP over the past couple of months is that he doesn't want to pay for his own television service, but gets annoyed because his neighbor has an unsightly mailbox that he has to look at while he is watching stolen ESPN from his gazebo that smells like dead rat.

Plano is the burbs. It's not inside city limits.
