I didn't say that XP is DOS-based, I said I like it better than the DOS-based Operating systems.
Actually, I said that XP is DOS-based.

Of course, that leaves open the argument for what it means to be "DOS-based".

Depending on how you define the term, you might be able to argue that NT is not DOS-based.

But I think that if you consider NT to be DOS-based, you must also consider XP to be DOS-based.

Personally, I think DOS was the best OS Microsoft ever wrote. It wasn't very advanced by any means of the word, but it worked fine and with much lower overhead.

In terms of security, Microsoft is certainly less securable than is Linux. In facr, wirh Linux, there are some add-on packages (which I've never actually tried) that can enhance security levels to extremely good levels.

But for the basic install, I don't really consider Windows or Linux secure enough to put on the web.

I can't believe people thought there was any discussion between ME and XP. In that context, XP was far better. It was a decent OS for the time.
