Watching the ladies play in Fort Worth, one thing is obvious from the get go, the talent from the seniors to the freshman (we're split almost down the middle) is pretty even. Eva Paalma, and Dominica Gonzales are a strong doubles pair and complement each other well, then Riley McQuaid and Dorthea Faa Hviding appear to be well suited for each other. The third pair is anybody's guess and I'd bet Mark will play mad scientist a LOT before Spring to mesh it just right. Our singles will be where we have to tow a major line. With so many freshman their head has to stay in the game and not have them try to do more than they are capable of doing. Plus, if the tables seem turned against them at some point during a match, they have to have the mental resolve to work through it and get back on top. Poor Riley got caught by a buzz saw in the round of 16 by an Italian sip Pisshead from tu and ripped her a new one. Riley showed good courage and has an excellent serve but just couldn't figure the gal out, it was as if she was playing against a backboard. Several long volleys were played but the sip came out on top the vast majority of the time. With our schedule set up the way it is, the ladies should have a good taste of victory before conference play starts. When CSQ comes to town with Central Florida that should be the first "real" test. Everybody needs to say a prayer that the girls stay as injury free as possible and let's enjoy another fun year.
