Taking the kids for the Ark Experience and Creation museum week of July 4th. Looking for a firework show in Kentucky or on our way back to Tejas that is worth the stop. Historical sights preferred. Anyone have any inside info?

Can't really help answer your question, but, my wife and I just came back for the Ark Experience. You'll love it. Prepare to go early and spend most of the day there.

Hit some caverns on the trip, Mammoth Cave, etc.

Do a tour of one of the stallion farms in Lexington (Jonabell or Claiborne). If the kids have seen the movie, Secretariat, he was buried at Claiborne.

The Buffalo Trace distillery is actually really awesome with lots of history and is educational. I suppose it would depend on the kids ages.

Appreciate the insight. Good idea on stops along the way. I got the 3 day pass for The Ark and Creation Museum where we can go as many times as we want in 3 days so hoping to bite it off in chunks. Hoping to find a Fireworks show along the way home on the 4th or even the 5th if closer to Texas.

I'm an airplane nut, so I would drive the 75 miles up to the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton

A few important points:

The Creation Museum is not located on the Ark Experience Grounds. It is just outside Cincinnati, about 45 minute drive.

If you want to tour Buffalo Trace, make your reservations now.

Mammoth Cave is a must see. But, if you have the time, go to Diamond Caverns also. It is a smaller, privately owned cave but it contains some unbelievable formations and is worth your time.

Can you still buy real M-80s in that neck of the woods?
