It's going to be some sort of fungus.
If it's anything like my grass, it's a hundred baby oak trees from the bajillion acorns that dropped during fall/winter.
Can you describe it?
One of his other thread titles had "black stuff" in the title, so I'm going to go with slime mold and nothing to worry about.
Let's see if this works. Wasn't there last night. It's not sticky, wet, slimy, etc.

Dog pee is my guess, unless you recently fertilized. High nitrogen or iron could cause a green up. Often will kill a spot but this time of year (high growth season) the grass eats it up.
Are we looking at the same picture?
That appears to be Hawaii.
Is it dusty? If you rub your fingers on it, does it get dust on them? If so, it's probably a fungus like rust.

Yeah, man. If you're talking about the oak tree comment, that was posted 2 hours before we got a picture, so we were all swinging for the fences with guesses.

Thanks guys and sorry about the multiple posts.
We had black slime after a contractor brought in fill dirt for the hole left from an uprooted tree. It only last for a couple of weeks and then never saw it again.
Is that where the big girls were laying??
