Texas A&M Football Recruiting
* Nine guys came to school in January and signed 23 today. That's 32 counting A.J. Hilliard who transferred from TCU.
* Class of WR consists of different players. Need that mix because we lose three really good seniors. Only two experienced WRs back.
* Front seven was a real emphasis. SEC is a line of scrimmage league. Needed to increase size and profile of team. Needed depth.
* James White is big and fast. Already 210 pounds with really long arms. Bigger guy at RB. Different guy that we we have at RB.
* Probably my least stressful ?Signing Day? in my coaching career. Didn't lose a commit on Signing Day and picked up Daeshon Hall.
* This class recruited other good players at the all-star games. Picked up guys because good players hit it off with our players.
* Had a lot of guys committed before the Alabama game. Our gameday atmosphere helped us a lot. Moving to SEC and winning was big.
* Really talented staff of coaches who do a great job of evaluating and communicating with young people. Lots of kids bought in early.
* Landing top-flight recruits has a lot to do with perception. Our staff is filled with great evaluators so don't care about rankings.
* Probably could have gotten one more OL but feel good about that spot.
* Kenny Hill and Kohl Stewart both have baseball to think about. We've talked a lot with both of those guys about their future.
* Kohl Stewart has a chance to be a top ten overall pick. He wants to come here and we would love to have him. We'll see.
* Guys who got to campus in January will have a leg up on immediate PT because of spring football. But summer bridge program is huge.
* Isaiah Golden and Justin Manning are both pretty good and we need them. Both 300-pounders and are coming in physically advanced.
* Went big on Jordan Mastrogiovanni early and he decided on OU and broke our hearts. Over time, he got interested in us and came back.
* Will let media working about recruiting rankings. What I worry about is trying to get recruits here to win SEC championship.
* We'll need a couple more of these classes to really get to where we need to be. In pretty good league so it takes strong classes.
* Davis player development center is as fine of a facility as there is in the country. All of upgrades speaks to player development.
* Noel Ellis and Tavares Garner are both very fast and very athletic. Great hips and top-end speed.
* Nobody recruited Alex Sezer but us but we did a camp and he is so fast. Mid-year graduate and second in his class in high school.
* A bunch of these guys will have a chance to play right away on special teams. You get better by playing...not just scouting.
* Jake Spavital's career has ascended quickly and his arrival played a factor in closing out recruitment of both of our quarterbacks.
* A.J. Hilliard transfers to us from TCU. He reached out to us and wanted to come here. Played as FR at TCU so he has to sit a year.
* Of mid-term guys that are here now, Cam Clear really stands out. All of the LBs will probably have to help us in depth and on ST.
