Texas A&M softball coach Jo Evans is excited about her four-member signing class that is expected to bring in a new wave of versatility to an already talented bunch when they arrive in Aggieland in the fall of 2013. All four players hail from the Lone Star State.

“I’m excited about this class. We have a variety of players. We have a couple kids that can hit for power, we’ve got a couple of speedsters, an outfielder and a pitcher. I like that there is some versatility with this group and we can use them in the infield, outfield and in the batting order with some lefty speed and some power hitting on the right side. I like the balance of it.”

2013 Softball Signing Class

* Reagan Boenker – C/3B - Bryan
* Abby Donnell – LHP – Wichita Falls
* April Ryan – INF/OF - Keller
* Suzanne White – C – Richmond

Here are quick capsules from each of the four signees, including quotes from Coach Evans:

Reagan Boenker

* Two-time District 12-5A Champion
* 2012 TGCA All-State first team
* 2011 District 12-5A first team
* Two-time Academic All-District team

Evans says...
“I think she is the most athletic of the group. She is very, very athletic, strong and powerful. She’s everything you would want in a softball player. She has good size to her, she can catch and she can play all the infield positions. I like her versatility as far as offense goes. She has great pop and can hit the long ball. She has a good personality. She isn’t really loud or outgoing, but she likes to have fun and she enjoys playing the game.”

Abby Donnell

* Owner of 17 Rider High School records
* 2012 District 5-4A MVP
* Two-time Red River Diamond Dozen MVP (2010, 2012)
* ESPNHS Player of the Week in 2012
* Three-time Academic All-District selection

Evans says...
“Abby is about 5-5 and not really big, but she spins the ball really well. She’s also a centerfielder and a hitter, so what we liked about her was her versatility. She’s athletic and gets a good read on balls in the outfield. She hits from the left side and can slap and drag and drive the ball. She’s strong for her size and is someone who can add speed to our lineup.”

April Ryan

* Crowley High School MVP and Offensive Player of the Year during her freshman season
* District 8-4A First-Team Newcomer of the Year her freshman season
* 2012 First-Team All-District 8-5A and the district’s Defensive MVP at Keller High School

Evans says...
“April is a middle infielder who could easily play outfield or any of the infield positions for us. She also hits left handed and isn’t as speedy as Abby Donnell, but she runs well. She can hit for power from the left side and also drag and slap, so she is kind of three dimensional in terms of what she does offensively.”

Suzanne White

* 2011 District 23-4A Co-Offensive Player of the Tear
* 2012 TGCA All-State team
* Two-time Fort Bend Herald Player of the Year
* 2012 District 23-4A MVP
* Three-year Academic All-District Honoree

Evans says...
“Suzanne plays for Connie May who is the mother of our All-American catcher Meagan May. It’s always nice when your All-American catcher can be helping your incoming player. Suzanne is a diehard Aggie and she is thrilled about this experience. She has played for Connie May for years, so she understands some of the verbiage we’re going to be using. She hits right handed, is a power hitter and I like her energy and enthusiasm.”
