Statistically, redshirt freshman quarterback Everett Golson’s first game as Notre Dame’s starter was quite mundane. He completed just 12 of 18 passes for 144 yards and one touchdown in a 50-10 victory over Navy. Ah, but he had only one interception.

And that alone may be enough to wake up the echoes in South Bend.

Last season the Irish could have — should have — easily posted 10 wins.
