2025 DeSoto RB Deondrae "Tiger" Riden commits to Texas A&M

Texas A&M continues to add key pieces to the 2025 class, and the Aggies returned to the DFW area for another big-time playmaker as DeSoto (TX) running back Deondrae Riden‍ announced his college commitment.

At 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, Riden is an every-down back who runs with a strong blend of power, vision and quickness. His size and strength allow him to finish runs with power and gain the tough yards between the tackles. His explosive burst allows him to hit a crease, make opponents miss in space, and take it the distance. He is well-schooled in blitz pick-up, and he is a playmaking threat as a receiver.

Over the last two seasons, he has been highly productive, rushing for over 1,000 yards each season, and he helped guide the Eagles to back-to-back state championships.

Riden received his A&M offer in April, before his sophomore season, and the Aggies have actively pursued him ever since. He has taken multiple visits to A&M over the years, and when Mike Elko was named as head coach, running backs coach and associate head coach Trooper Taylor and defensive line coach, former DeSoto standout and area recruiter Tony Jerod-Eddie took the lead in his recruitment.

Riden becomes the Aggies’ fourth commitment to the 2025 recruiting class, and he is the second addition from the DFW area. He is currently ranked No. 23 in the TexAgs Texas Top 100 and the No. 1 running back in Texas.

In addition to Texas A&M, he received offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, USC and Washington.

Missed many games with dislocated elbow is why his yards are not higher.

TJE hire playing dividends in a key recruiting area.

Elko beginning to break barriers in the Metroplex that have existed since Mack/Stoops took over?

It's a good 1st step.

DeSoto produces a good deal of talent. It's nice having an alum in TJE to help build a pipeline there.

DeSoto has been very good to us in the past. Loved our last RB from there. Glad to make inroads back there.
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.

Here's to hopin' they're Riden that warhorse

I see a decisive, one-cut-and-go back with good change of direction skills and excellent balance. Outstanding leg power; when tacklers hit him low they just bounce right off. When they hit him high... they still just bounce right off. And when he gets that big stiff arm on defenders they feel it. Watched several defenders just collapse under that stiff arm in those highlights.

Not really a ton of top end speed, but he gets there instantaneously. He's not exactly a scat back, but he can change direction and hop back outside with abrupt alacrity to get into open space. Hands look soft, too, on routes. Patient runner at that, letting his blocking develop and then going through once the hole is there... but not afraid of contact, either. If the hole isn't there he'll still plow right through guys for a tough yard.

I'll be honest... I see a lot of Maurice Jones-Drew in this kid. He's taller but he's got a wide frame that can probably carry more size without losing anything (though he definitely looks bigger than that listed 195). Real bowling ball type of tailback. I like it. This backfield is going to be really, really deep and if one back happens to get knocked out of a game... the defense won't have reason to relax. They're just going to get a fresher, hungrier, just as capable back in their place.
