Texas A&M volleyball's head coach Jamie Morrison joined TexAgs Radio on Tuesday to reflect on Senior Day at Reed Arena and the season thus far as the Aggies prepare for their final week of the regular season, hosting Ole Miss on Wednesday before playing at Alabama on Saturday.

Key notes from Jamie Morrison interview

  • Caroline Meuth has exhausted her eligibility. We're going to miss her as a volleyball player. Before I arrived here, she could hit a volleyball hard, but she has developed into an amazing all-around player. I can't wait to help her go play professionally. She's a great human being with a great sense of humor. She has adapted and molded into the person this team needed her to be. I'm going to miss her.

  • Lauren Hogan has another year of eligibility. I hugged her and told her I hoped this wasn't the last time we had to do this. She's our team captain, and I hope we have her back. I've had a lot of captains, and she might be one of the best I've ever had. She's a stud on the court, and she's really, really skilled.

  • It was a big match against Tennessee, and a lot of times, the volleyball crowd trickles in. About five minutes before the match, it was a good crowd. The student section was filling in behind the band. I had such a huge smile and grin on my face. It was awesome, and I told our girls to enjoy being in the arena and in front of the crowd. It's growing into what I envisioned when I heard about the 12th Man. I know Wednesday will be tough because it's the day before Thanksgiving, but if you're in town, we need you. We have two matches left, and they're both must-win games for us.

  • The SEC is a grind. If we win both of these matches, we'll be 9-9. I think there will be five teams that are 9-9 or 10-8. One more win and we would've finished fourth in the league. Ole Miss is in the middle of that. We have a pretty good game plan, but I'm expecting it to be a tough match.

  • We're going to start an SEC Volleyball Tournament in 2025. There are some pluses and minuses to it. Tournament seeding can be affected because our sport is weighted heavily by RPI. Our sport isn't really rooted in being back-to-back either. On the other end, and where I'm in support of it, is that a conference tournament would be a marketable event for our sport. It's happening. I'm excited about it coming in 2025.

  • Our RPI is No. 32. The committee typically doesn't skip over that. When you're on this side of it, it is still nerve-wracking. I do feel confident that our team has done the work to get in. I'm excited to see us in the tournament for the first time in a short history because there is a long-term history here.

  • We played two of the top teams in the country last week, and I thought we played pretty well. I like the way we're playing volleyball. We just have to find ways to finish sets.
