Texas A&M set to move on from Jimbo Fisher as head football coach

Jimbo Fisher is expected to be let go as the head football coach at Texas A&M on Sunday.

TexAgs co-owner and executive editor Billy Liucci first reported the news on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.

His ouster would put an end to Fisher’s controversial and disappointing six-year tenure in College Station.

According to Liucci, the decision to terminate Fisher was made at a Board of Regents meeting on Thursday. Texas A&M University will owe Fisher approximately $76 million for the remaining eight years of his guaranteed contract.

Liucci’s report comes after A&M (6-4, 4-3 in the SEC) defeated Mississippi State at Kyle Field on Saturday night, 51-10.

Fisher leaves Texas A&M with a 45-25 overall record and a 27-21 record in Southeastern Conference play.

It is unclear who will assume the role of interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

You and BL panicked everyone by this. Speculation was that you'd been hacked or had leaked out info too early in the day.

While I agree, your point relies on the possibility of Jimbo firing his o-line coach for one that fits a scheme more suited to his OC's rather than his own. The lack of trust in Jimbo making good hires is why he's being let go.

And another vicious circle of A&M football culture comes to an all too familiar end. It goes deeper than who the coach or players are. It's just our culture. We can't be a winner regardless of who the head coach is. Texas A&M is a rich but dead end for all coaches. I've been a witness for 65 years.

Agree. Feels like a match made in heaven when we joined the SEC and then slowly deteriorated into a series of miserable marriages/divorces, with the added bonus of the sips/sooners moving into the house next door.
