Aggie soccer sits atop SEC West rankings with trip to Auburn up next

Texas A&M soccer currently sits at first in the SEC West with a big conference road clash on deck. Before the Aggies head to Auburn on Friday, G Guerrieri joined Wednesday's edition of TexAgs Radio to give us a glimpse of the match and state of the team.

Key notes from G Guerrieri interview

• It's the kind of comeback you want from your Aggies. Our backs were up against the wall after Vanderbilt. We had a terrible result on the road. It's hard to win on the road in the SEC. We were in third place overall and tied for first in the SEC West coming into Alabama.
   
• When Alabama scored first, it was one of our mistakes that allowed them to score. It's about what is next. We have a five-minute rule. What you do in the first five minutes, five minutes after a goal, and the last five minutes will win you a game. Within 90 seconds, Taylor Pounds looks up and chips a ball underneath the crossbar. 90 seconds later, Mia Pante is played in, put up a great shot, and we get the go-ahead goal. Jazmine Wilkison's late goal in the game put the dagger in their throat.
   
• When Mia Pante is in the flow, she does it effortlessly. You can say that about a lot of players. Sydney Becerra too. There was a sequence that covered 75 yards in seven seconds. It was high-level play. It’s great to see how this team has come along.
   
• We are alone in the first place in the SEC West. If we win two, we are at least co-champions with Arkansas. We have four games left, and three are on the road.
   
• We are going to Auburn on Friday. They will be on a super high because they just beat Arkansas. It’s a home football weekend for them. It will be a challenge for every one of us to go win. 
   
• Carolyn Calzada is fantastic. She has heart and enthusiasm. The result on Thursday was as bad as it's been in the last century. They never quit. We were able to her back in the lineup, and that's a huge difference to us. We lost Georgia Leb to a knee injury. The team will play hard for her. 
   
• We have one home game left and everything to play for. You can only listen through the 12th Man mobile app at 6:30 p.m.
