Notes from Billy's breakdown

  • Trayveon is on this list due in large part to how good he looked this spring.  I am not sure before the spring that he would have been on my list.  He created a buzz this spring day-to-day.

  • Williams bring an element to the offense that it lacked sorely last season. He is not small, and he is a very well built guy who is actually one of the strongest guys in this class.

  • When all is said and done I think that he will be comparable to Cyrus Gray. Williams glides and can accelerate so quickly.

  • He is smooth and explosive and will make a lot of plays catching the football out of the backfield.

  • Williams will undoubtedly get carries this season.  Thinks there is still an opportunity to get a significant portion of carries because he is a great change of pace running back.  He is a homerun hitter who can make plays out of the backfield.

  • Competition with Kendall Bussey may determine who gets more carries this season.  Many have compared Williams to Christian Kirk in terms of play making ability.  That is something that will open your eyes.

Notes from Olin's thoughts on Williams

  • Williams is not going to be a starter but he has great potential to come in during games and provide a big play threat.

  • Will also provide a big threat catching the ball out of the backfield as well as giving Keith Ford downs to rest.

  • Freshman running backs find pass blocking to be a primary issue when transitioning to the college game because they tend to just be given the ball and told to go in high school.

  • Williams has the makings of an exciting player.  Will he make his way onto the field this year?  Will he find his way into starting lineup?
