Texas A&M Volleyball Coach Laurie Corbelli

On how the team handled Mississippi State's quick offense...
"Oh, they did a great job. I thought we started out a little bit behind the eight ball with that we were a little late with our blocking, and the ball kind of gets on you really quick and the diggers were a little bit behind, but once they got themselves into a rhythm we started to take them out of their fast offense — which really helped. I was really pleased."

On whether the team focuses on rankings or one game at a time...
"Game to game. We know in the next 10 days we have four of the biggest matches of our season and yet at the same time we have accomplished a lot already in 14 weeks, so we can't let the next few weeks overwhelm us. It's definitely one at a time and we never talk about other matches. The team responds to that, we have been doing that all year and the team responds really well."

On the attitude in the locker room right now...
"They are so excited. They are proud of their work, they are trying to make sure each other stays healthy and gets their rest. This time of year rest is really important not only physically but mentally it's been a grind, and a long season. You have to keep your athletes fresh and they know it, so they appreciate the time that we give them off and they know that is valuable time. They are excited, they are eager to get on the court and get started, they are eager to get in front of the 12th Man this week. So, we will see what happens."

On what the team previously learned when they beat Kentucky in Lexington...
"That has to be finishing. We went over there to Kentucky for three years and couldn't finish and each set was really tight. We never stop talking about how we had it in our hands and just let it go. We are sick and tired of doing that and it took some people to really figure out that we did have some say in that. Not all of it, there is some luck involved — there's some talent on the other side of the net — but you do have control on your side to do some things, so I think as players started to figure that out, the leadership started to come out more. The belief and the confidence are so important, so I think that's what we will take from that again."
