Return of the King? The SEC can reassert itself in Week 1
Usually September is time for the Southeastern Conference to reload and
reaffirm its reputation as the best college football conference in the
nation.
Yet, the SEC enters the opening week of the season seeking redemption and looking to rebuff doubters who may begin to question its status.
No doubt, the SEC’s reputation took a hit at the end of last season. First, the SEC went 0-4 against ACC rivals in the final week of the regular season. Then, the SEC was a mediocre 7-5 in bowl games. Teams from the heralded West Division were 2-5 in the postseason.
