Texas A&M, Texas paired in Battle 4 Atlantis opening round
On Thursday the bracket for the 2015 Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas, one of college basketball's premiere season-opening tournaments, was revealed.
And, yes, Texas A&M and Texas are slated to play in the opening round.
The two programs last met in February of 2012, near the end of A&M's last season as a member of the Big 12 Conference.
Gonzaga-Washington, Michigan-UConn and Syracuse-Charlotte make up the other three opening games. The Aggies and Zags were the only two participants ranked in ESPN's latest preseason top 25 — A&M and No. 25 and Gonzaga at No. 11.
The tournament's natural marketing ploy follows the announcement that the A&M and Texas baseball programs have scheduled each other in 2016 and the continued angst over the football series' hiatus, including comments from Kevin Sumlin and Charlie Strong about the rivalry's return.
